ROUND ROCK, Tx. - The Michigan Jaguars FC 2004 Girls' Academy team has arrived in the Lone Star State for the 2021 Girls' Academy League Winter Showcase. The team will play three matches in the U17 age band against some of the nation's best talent.

"Everyone is just excited to get out, play some games, see some good competition, and go somewhere new," said midfielder Ella Janz (Class of 2023). "Getting games in and getting touches in is really exciting."

After a long layoff due to COVID-19, the team is looking forward to getting back into match form.

"We are still brushing the dust off," said University of Dayton commit Mairin Wessner (Class of 2022). "It might be a little rough in Texas at first, but once we get the first few minutes in it will be a lot better to get back into the rhythm.

Those opening minutes will come against Baltimore Armour 04 GA, with kickoff slated for 3:00pm CST (4:00 EST) on Friday afternoon.

"A goal for the team is to apply the principals we have been working on here in practice," Janz said. "A goal for myself is to get good college exposure through this event and go out and play my hardest."

Friday's match can be livestreamed on YouTube here.
